At Bread & Blossom, we draw inspiration from anthroposophical wisdom, Indigenous earth-based traditions, and universal Catholic values, weaving them gently into our days in ways that feel alive, practical, and heartfelt. As a mother and daughter working side by side and in collaboration, we are devoted to creating a warm, enchanted play space and a steady daily rhythm for a small circle of children ages 3-6. Our days are filled with opportunities to craft, paint, move, tumble, play freely, listen to stories, recite verses, and sing together—held within a container of care, reverence, and love.

Children are invited into relationship with the natural world through hands-on tending of a flower and medicine garden, harvesting herbs for healing and beauty, and the gentle care of small animals. Gratitude for the earth is not taught as a concept, but lived as a daily practice. Throughout the year, we also prepare for and host multiple seasonal celebrations—from autumn harvest gatherings and winter light festivals to spring planting rituals and summer solstice joys—that bring families together to honor the turning of the seasons and the cycles of life.

About Bread & Blossom

Our art and craft materials are lovingly made by hand, using natural ingredients whenever possible—like vibrant natural paints, earth-toned inks, and eco-friendly supplies. Meals and snacks are organic, from-scratch, and traditionally prepared daily using garden-fresh ingredients, such as home-made yogurt, bone broth, sourdough bread, corn tortillas, fermented vegetables, and kefir sodas—simple, ancestral foods chosen to support growing bodies, digestion, and overall well-being.

Bread & Blossom offers young children a calm, joyful environment infused with beauty, rhythm, and reverence for childhood. Each child’s unique developmental unfolding is met with curiosity, respect, and affection. We care for the whole child—body, heart, mind, and spirit—recognizing that these aspects are inseparable in early life.

Play is honored as the child’s natural and essential work. Imaginative play is supported throughout the day through the use of simple, open-ended toys and materials made from natural elements like wood, wool, cotton, and silk. Dolls and playthings are intentionally minimal in detail, allowing children to bring their own inner pictures and emotions into the play. This simplicity invites creativity, flexibility, and deep imaginative engagement–characteristics sorely needed in todays world.

Children are also invited into meaningful “real work” that strengthens the sense of community and nurtures confidence and responsibility. Activities such as cooking, baking, cleaning, gardening, animal tending, and simple woodworking offer children a sense of belonging and accomplishment while grounding them in the rhythms of daily life.

A steady, predictable rhythm is at the heart of our program, with small classes and teacher-guided flow: circle and movement time, stories and songs, indoor/outdoor play, meals, rest, and creative projects. Weekly rhythms may include baking, handwork, painting, and seasonal crafts, while the yearly rhythm is shaped by the natural seasons and traditional festivals.

Stories and fairy tales are shared from the heart, spoken rather than read, allowing the children to receive them as living experiences. These stories are later brought into play through movement, dramatization, and imaginative reenactment. Songs, verses, and rhymes—often paired with gesture and movement—support speech development, enrich vocabulary, and nourish the child’s inner world. Puppet play is woven naturally into our days, offering another doorway into imagination and wonder.

By protecting the magic of early childhood and honoring the soul life of the young child, we aim to lay a foundation for creativity, resilience, flexible thinking, kindness, curiosity, and a lasting sense of joy and awe in the world.

Hello ~ so nice to meet you. We are Krista & Fiadh Arias, mother and daughter collaborating to create a unique and special experience not only for your child, but also for you and your family. We believe that children need rhythm in order to settle into peace. We believe they need the natural world to guide their growing limbs into harmony. We believe children learn generative conflict skills while playing with each other. We believe they learn from beauty and that curative structure allows for responsible freedom and deep creativity. Together we have created a container for your child to blossom!
